MONDAY EXCURSIONS
On Mondays local half day excursions are scheduled to permit course participants to visit local points of interest. On the first Monday a walking tour of the colonial town of Heredia is arranged for the afternoon; on the second Monday a 2 hour guided tour/theater show of the Cafe Britt Coffee Plantation.
WEEKEND
TRIP TO ARENAL
A week-end trip to Arenal is included for course participants:
Depart on Saturday morning. On the road to the volcano visit the artisan
town of Sarchi and the gardens of Zarcero. Once in La Fortuna, hike along
the gentle trails of a local private reserve to see the flora and fauna
of the region. Spend the early evening bathing and relaxing at the local
Hot Springs with its spectacular view of the volcano. If the volcano is
active on this day, it is possible to see impressive lava explosions. On
Sunday morning hike to the Catarata La Fortuna and swim in the natural
pools at the base of the waterfall. After lunch return to Heredia.
