According to U.S Census 2000, Hispanics currently constitute the largest minority group in the U.S, Latinos representing 12% of the population. By 2050, some estimates project that Latinos will comprise 25% of the U.S. population.

For medical professionals, addressing this demographic shift and developing Spanish-language skills have become essential for effective communication and treatment of latino patients. To meet the need for linguistic training and cultural sensitivity, CPI offers  monthly Spanish Courses for Medical Professionals. These courses provide language study focused on grammar and conversation, coupled with special attention to patient role play and dialogues related to relevant cultural issues.

Students can choose to take the Medical Spanish Course for one, two, or three weeks at a time. Each week is spent at a different campus, so   participants have the opportunity to experience  three distinct regions of Costa Rica. The first  week, students study at CPI  Flamingo and the  second  week is spent at  CPI  Monteverde. The third  week, students travel to CPI Heredia, where in addition to continuing classes,  they have the opportunity to volunteer at a local clinic and observe  firsthand Costa Rican medical methods and techniques!

CPI has been offering medical Spanish courses since 1998, making it the most specialized language-immersion school in Costa Rica. Our program successfully assists medical professionals  to become more effective  health care providers through Spanish-language development coupled with the opportunity to augment cultural sensitivity through complete immersion in native Latin American culture. CPI Medical Programs can help you to better understand and connect with Latino patients, the largest and fastest-growing minority  group in the U.S.

With classes being offered on a monthly basis, there are even more opportunities to participate. What are you waiting for? Enroll now!
