Celebration is the perfect term to refer to the Afro-Costa Rican culture – with representative colors and clothing, sounds of the Reggae and Calypso rhythms and the layers of flavors in the foods – students experience a carnival-like atmosphere! Learn about the historical arrival of the Jamaican immigrants to assist with the transnational railroad at the turn of the 20th century, their subsequent integration into Costa Rican society and, in turn, the influence of Afro-Costa Rican traditions on the mainstream Costa Rican culture.
